Hurstbourne is city / neighborhood located in eastern Jefferson County in Louisville Ky along Hurstbourne Parkway & I-64. This area became known as Highbaugh Farms in the 1950s, and at that time was considered to be on the outskirts of Louisville. In the mid 1960s, L. Leroy Highbaugh Sr. began developing the farm by creating a planned community that included shopping, office buildings, schools, churches, and Hurstbourne Country Club which features a 27 hole golf course. As time continued, various additional housing developments, restaurants, grocery stores and other conveniences began being built within this region. In 1982, Hurstbourne was incorporated as a city. A bit of trivia: Hurstbourne is a compilation of 2 words. “Hurst” meaning a grove of trees, and “Bourne” meaning boundary.
